Screen-Time Meltdowns? Try This Screen-Free Swap Instead
If “just five more minutes” on the tablet has become a daily battle in your house, you’re not alone. Nearly half of parents say they lean on screens every day just to keep a tantrum at bay — and paediatric guidelines still recommend no more than one hour of high-quality screen content a day for children aged 2–5.
The good news: the alternative doesn’t have to be a fight. Swap ten minutes of scrolling for a hands-on maze or hidden-object puzzle. It delivers the same burst of excitement and focus a screen gives, but builds real skills instead of passive habits.
Children who solve puzzles regularly build sharper focus and calmer transitions away from screens, without the meltdown that usually follows a “time’s up.”
